Virginia Medlin, 96, Lamar, Missouri, passed away May 24, 2012 at St. Luke's after a short illness. Ms. Medlin was born October 28, 1915, in rural Barton County, MO, to Luther and Lenora (Onwiler) Runion. Virginia graduated from Lamar High School, class of 1933. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Lamar.
Virginia married Gerald Woodrow Medlin, July 19, 1935, in Lamar, MO. They owned and operated several businesses in Lamar, General Stores, car dealerships, Ford Tractor Agency, Mobile Home Sales and the Lamar Motel. Virginia was a wonderful hostess to those who stayed at their motel. She loved gardening, baking and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceding Ms. Medlin is her husband of 69 years, Gerald; her parents; sister, Margaret (Runion) Costley; two brothers, Luther Runion Jr. and Gerald Runion. Virginia is survived by daughter, Virginia (Medlin) Frieden and husband, Lon, of Lamar, MO; son Gerald Woody Medlin, New Bern, N.C.; 3 grandchildren, Gina (Frieden) Little and husband, Kevin, Lamar, MO; Beth (Medlin) Jackson and husband, Mel, of San Diego, CA; and Jon Medlin, Raymore, MO;4 great grandchildren; Lauren Little and Alana Little of Lamar, MO; Madalyn Jackson and Nicholas Jackson of San Diego, CA; a sister, Darlene (Runion) Gardner, of Lamar, MO; 2 brothers, Earl Runion of Bethany, OK, and Paul Runion of Lee's Summit, MO. She will be missed by many.
