Obituary of Ruth Foger

Long time Barton County resident, Ruth Elaine Foger, 86, went on to be with the Lord September 3, 2011.
Ruth Elaine Snyder was born on December 23, 1924 in Verdella, MO to Herb and Rose (Miller) Snyder.
Ruth graduated from Liberal High School in 1942. Soon after graduation she passed the state teaching exam and began teaching in several country schools in the Barton County area. For several summers she attended Joplin Junior College and Bolivar Baptist College furthering her teaching education.
She married Addis Foger on May 28, 1948 at her home in Verdella, MO and later moved to Lamar, MO. Her daughter, Rissie, was born in 1949. Ruth taught at the Forest Grove School for several years and then changed her career path and became the Lamar Elementary School secretary until moving to Olathe, KS in 1962. After 21 years in the Olathe School system, she retired and moved back to Verdella with Addis who had recently retired from the Kansas City Star.
Ruth and Addis were members of the Verdella Freewill Baptist Church. They enjoyed church activities, gardening, fishing, and most of al visiting with friends and family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Addis, her father and mother, Herb and Rose Snyder and her brother and wife, Harvey and Jeanette Snyder. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Rissie and Roger Harvey of Olathe, KS, a nephew and his wife, John and Lana Snyder of Garland, TX, two grand nieces and several cousins.
A bright and shining star in then Barton County community has gone out, but Ruth's memory will long be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
