Obituary of Martha Reed

Martha "Joan" Reed, 79, of Lamar, MO, passed away January 17, 2014. She was born July 19, 1934 to Floyd and Alice Parker Schell, Jasper, MO. Joan held several jobs. After graduating high school, she worked at the Carthage Five and Dime Joan married John Reed at her parent's home in Jasper, MO. They farmed in Iantha, and she was self-employed in the pet industry involving running of kennels and sales and transportation. In addition to having their own children, they opened their home to foster children. Joan is survived by sons; Michael O'Brien and wife, Michelle, Eldorado, KS, Philip Reed, Kansas City; daughters Jolene Bufford, Fairview, MO, Beth Reed, Lamar, MO, Amy Driskill and husband, Bill, Reeds, MO, Donna Fritzwater, Columbus, KS, Megan Neher and husband, Lynn, Jasper, MO; twenty grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Reed. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; two grandchildren, Stefanie Blair Reed and Austin Reed; brother Roger Schell. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
