Obituary of Robert Harris

Robert Welsh Harris, 90, Lamar, MO, passed away January 29, 2014, at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 21, 1923, in Kenoma, MO, to William R. and Vera (Welsh) Harris. He was the fourth of five children, who all preceded him in death. Robert graduated from Lamar High School, Class of 1942. He served in the United States Navy, during WWII. Robert farmed after the war in the Kenoma area until 1979, and retired to Lamar, MO. He became a self-taught master woodworker; and the results are enjoyed by many of his family. Robert and Norma traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. He married Norma Jean Gage in March of 1947, at the Lamar Christian Church, where he was a long time member. Robert is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; his children, Clark W. and wife, Donna Harris, of Branson, MO, Kent M. and wife, Debbie Harris, of Lamar, MO, Peggy C. and husband, Kevin Quinn, of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Zachary and wife, Lindsay Harris, Lamar, MO, Benjamin and wife, Alisha Harris, Claremore, OK, Isaac and wife, Lauren Harris, Carl Junction, MO, Allison Harris, Normal, Il, Emily Viers, Los Angeles, CA and Jacob Viers, Fort Bragg, NC; seven great -grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gayle Robert Harris, July 1971; his parents and siblings.
