Obituary of Vivian Young

Vivian Young age 96 passed away, Monday, February 15, 2015 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Vivian was born May 15, 1918 in Dedrick, Missouri to Rev. Thomas and Rosa Leffler Yoast. She married George Albert Young on June 1, 1935 in Nevada, MO and they made their home in Liberal, Missouri where they raised their family. Vivian owned two cafes in Liberal, she also was a waitress at the Traveler's Hotel in Lamar, a dispatcher for the Lamar Fire Department, a waitress at the Blue Top Cafe and worked as a cook at the Liberal School District where she worked until retiring. Vivian moved to Overland Park, Kansas in 2003 to be near her daughter, Kathryn Stevenson. Preceding her in death are her parents, her son George Allen Young, a daughter Francis Elaine Young Lawson, two grandchildren, Charles E Young and Cindy K. Hobbs Peters; three brothers, George, Leonard, and Thomas L; 5 sisters, Mildred, Eva, Johna Mae, Rosalee, and Edith. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Stevenson and husband Gerald of Overland Park, Kansas and many grandchildren. The family requests donations go to Liberal United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. Services for Vivian will be held, February 24, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
