Richard Leroy Coffey died May 10, 2013, 3:45 pm, at his home following a short Illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha, his parents, James and Celia Coffey and his 5 brothers Lloyd, Leonard, Don, Bob and Larry and 1 sister, Dorothy. He was born July 6, 1934 in Leavenworth, Kansas to James and Ceilia (Kasper) Coffey. He graduated from Metz High School. He Married Martha Ann Blasair May 8, 1955. Richard moved his family in 1976 to Lamar from Plattsburg, MO, after leaving Owens Corning Fiberglass, Kansas City , to become a farmer. He retired from farming in 2008 after which he began driving a dump truck in Jasper, MO. Richard is survived by His 2 sons Richard Coffey and wife Linda of Kansas City, MO and Kenneth Coffey and wife Debbie of Carterville, MO, 1 daughter, Pamela Dunn and husband Randy of Carthage, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grand children and 2 sisters, Ileen Gary and husband George, of Joplin and Rosemary Carsten and husband Al, of Nevada, MO. Visitation will be at the Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar from 7 to 9 PM. Monday May13. His family requests that Memorial gifts be made to Lamar FFA.
