Obituary of Charles Bender

Charles R. Bender of Lockwood , Mo age 54, Passed away after an extended illness on Oct 11, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield surrounded by his family. Charles was born August 7, 1961 in Wyatt, MO, to Floyd V. and Thelma S. (Allbritton) Bender. His father died when he was young and he was raised by his mother and his step father Lonnie Schade. Charles went into the army right out of high school. He was stationed in Afghanistan and was wounded in combat. Upon returning home he took up a career in warehouse management. He was known for his generosity and his easy going nature. Charles is survived by his life companion Phyris Mayfield of the home, a daughter Nichole Bender Aaron and husband Tim of Houston, TX, 4 step sons, Brent and Kyle Mayfield of Lamar, Brian Mayfield of Lockwood and Daniel Smith of Georgia, a brother, Floyd V. Bender Jr. and wife Barbara, and a sister, Lorri Fann both of Cape Girardeau, MO and His step father Lonnie Schade also of Cape Girardeau. There will be a graveside service with military honors at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Springfield, MO, Friday at 1 PM .
