Lawrence Joseph Pashia, "Larry", of Lamar, age 77, passed from this life into the presence of his Savior, Saturday evening while at his church home, St. Mary's Catholic Church, surrounded by his church family, as he was presenting a plea for a parish capitol campaign. Larry was born July 5th, 1939 in Old Mines, Missouri, to Lawrence Z. and Ann L (Robart) Pashia. He was one of 9 children in the family. After graduating from ST Joachim High School in Old Mines, MO, he embarked upon a brief career as a shoe salesman. It was in this capacity that he met Mary Ann Evans. After trying on a few shoes she asked him to escort her to her High School Prom and the rest, as they say, is history. They were married at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Jennings, MO. Soon Larry began working at Tubular Steel Inc. in the Steel Yard and advanced quickly to Yard Forman and then was promoted to the sales department. He later left the company to drive a truck for Road Runner Express but was lured back to Tubular Steel to resume his successful sales career. Shortly after retirement Mary Ann passed away and Larry moved to Lamar to be near family. Here in Lamar he worked for the Golf course as a grounds keeper and was very active in his church. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and The Masonic Lodge. He loved the out doors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and foraging for wild asparagus and blackberries. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, his brother Vincent and a daughter-in-law Joan Pashia, (Jim's wife). He is survived by one daughter Linda Tharp of St Louis, 3 sons, Tim Pashia and wife Donna of Lamar, Jim Pashia of Webb City and Steve Pashia and wife Nakita of St. Louis, MO, 9 grand children; Matt Tharp, Jessica, Nick, Theodore, Nathan, Emily, Jordan, Dallas and Camden Pashia, three great grand children; Makinley, Jaydon and Keylee and one more on the way. Also surviving are 7 of his siblings; Monica, Paul, Fran, John, Mary Catherine, James and Theresa. A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lamar, Wednesday at 1 PM with a celebration of life reception in the parish hall after the service. The Konantz Warden Funeral Home is assisting the family with the memorial arrangements. Condolences may be left and viewed on Larry's memorial web pages at konantzwarden.com .
