Obituary of LeAnn Campbell
LeAnn Campbell, 82 passed away peacefully on October 5, 2017 at her home in Lamar where she had been surrounded by her family for months. LeAnn was born in Burden, KS to William Clarence Foster and Mary Lucille Cunningham Foster on January 31, 1935. She attended college at Central Methodist College and it was her roommate and future sister-in-law Ruth that introduced her to Bud, the love of her life. She was united in marriage to Oliver Willard “Bud” Campbell June 12, 1955 in Cabool, MO. She put her college education on hold to raise her children. She completed her elementary education degree at Missouri Southern State College in 1977. LeAnn worked many years in the area of special education and later retired from the Lamar VoTech School. LeAnn was an accomplished writer and authored many devotionals, magazine articles, and books. Her first novel was published when she was 75 years old and she went on to publish a series of children’s mystery novels. Bud and LeAnn were active at the First Christian Church in Lamar for many years. They served together in the bus ministry and she taught in the children’s ministry for years. Both Bud and LeAnn served as Ombudsmen at Truman Healthcare in Lamar for over 25 years. LeAnn was active in many organizations including Barton County Retired Educators, Highway Wives, Christian Writer’s Fellowship and Writer’s Critique Groups. LeAnn was selected as the Missouri Mother of the Year in 1997. LeAnn is survived by her brothers Sam Foster and Eddie Foster; her children Janet Campbell of Lamar, Patti (Jeff) Burnette of Owasso, OK, Vicki (Joe) Pugh of Lamar, Sharon (Brian) Board of Nevada, MO, Bill (Tammi) Campbell of Kansas City, MO, and Greg (Kathy) Campbell of Cuba, MO. LeAnn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Foster, and her husband Oliver “Bud” Campbell, brothers-in-law Dale Campbell and Lloyd Hoerning, sisters-in-law Hazel Brewer and Ruth Campbell.

Her family has requested that memorial gifts be given to Gideons International or the Alzheimer's Association.
