Obituary of Robert E. Morris Jr

Robert Elbert Morris, Jr 88 of Lamar, MO passed away Monday, November 13, 2017. He was born September 12, 1929 near Roland, Arkansas to Robert Morris and Sarah (Ellison) Morris. He joined the marines in 1954 as a gunnery drill sergeant and continued in the Marine Corp Reserves for 27 years until his retirement in 1976.  Robert was a skilled mechanic at Sears and Roebuck for 22 years and more than 15 years at the bus barn in the Roseville, CA school district. After moving to Lamar he was employed at Lamar Parks and Rec. Robert attended First Christian Church Lamar as long as he was able and appreciated members of the church and neighbors that would come to his home to visit and pray with him. Robert married Peggy Joyce Welch November 13, 1949 in Reno, Nevada they had 3 children. He is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Patty Morris, grandsons Michael Morris and Skyler Hockett, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Walter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sharon, son Terry, grandson Jonny Souza, brothers Lewis and Wayne Morris and sister Christine Garrett. There will be a graveside service Wednesday November 15 at 2 P.M. at the Memory Garden Cemetery, Pastor Mike Gage will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Local V.F.W Post 3691. Konantz Warden Funeral Home is assisting the family with the service arrangements.
