Charles Overstreet passed from this life Oct. 20, 2012.
He was born in Liberal, Mo., July 12, 1917, to Charles L. and Frona Coy Overstreet. Charles attended Liberal schools and graduated from Liberal High School in 1935.
Mr. Overstreet was a member of the Liberal Christian Church, the Liberal Lions Club and enjoyed being involved with other Liberal civic organizations. He worked at Liberal Lumber Yard for several years; however, farming was his first love.
On Nov. 19, 1938, Charles married Alice Richmond. They made their home in Liberal until 2004, at which time they moved to Carthage, Mo., to be near family.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, of nearly 74 years; daughter, Patsy (Roy) Thomas, Carthage, and Linda (Al) Kimmle, Grove, Okla.; three grandchildren, Mike (Tara) Thomas, Carthage, Dee Ann (Doug) Miller, Webb City, Mo., and April (Shawn) Wheeler, Muskogee, Okla.; seven great-grandchildren; three step granddaughters; and seven step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ralph and Herbert Overstreet.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Liberal Christian Church. Ministers Bob Dickey and Jim Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Liberal City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Thomas, Doug Miller, Shawn Wheeler, Harold Overstreet, Jordan Overstreet and Ronnie Long.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Liberal Christian Church or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
