Aunt Nene said something so wonderful and precious to me during the last hours of my dad’s life that it has uplifted and comforted me all these years. I hear her voice often. She called and encouraged me often during the years my dad, Paul had moved to an Arizona care facility then near me in Alaska.
When my dad was in the last few hours of his life, the hospice lady told his he could still hear us. That evening, when Aunt Nene called, I held the phone to my dad’s ear. As soon as he heard her voice, the expression on his face changed. It was amazing! After she finished her visit, she asked how I was doing. Well, I liked my life popping in and out to see dad and getting to know all those nice medical people who sure talk differently from we accounting kind of folks. Thank all you medically gifted - like Susan and the rest of you like her! Sure glad you do that caring work.
In her wisdom, Aunt Nene knew my life was about to change dramatically. She told me that God would fill my life with something wonderful, that He has a plan for me. Wow, was she ever right. A number of years later, we were talking when I told her how much that still meant to me. She had forgotten but thought it was nice to hear she had helped me. Maybe it was just one of those moments you never know how you will touch someone. My heart is feeling blessed.
