One more memory I forgot to mention that you all may find humorous is that when we met in 1998, I told her that at the tender age of 5 or 6, I thought she was "so old". We laughed about that, as to children, everyone is to be looked up to back then. And she was only in her late 20's.

I and my brother had the privilege of being two of her Valley School students from 1957-1960, as I recall. It was about a mile from our farm outside Milford in which my brother and I walked in the snow to school. It had a coat room, and a pot belly stove to keep us warm. She taught 8 grades simultaneously with a total of about 18 students. I remember going through 1st - 3rd grades with only Martin Metcalf and myself for those 3 years. In fact, I had the opportunity to talk with her in 1998 when I visited my old farm. I couldn't visit without looking her up, so drove to Lamar and asked a local if they knew her. "Oh yes", they quickly said, and told me where she lived. I knocked on the door and told her who I was, and we had a wonderful chat and talked of old memories. She had a beautiful home and I remember a backyard that was breath-taking with the woods far behind her house.
She was such a lovely lady, and I will never forget her, and was glad to have had the opportunity to talk with her that October day in 1998. It is so funny as I am trying to be grammatically correct in my tribute. :) I hope her family enjoys this very small tribute to a woman who made such a difference. Till we meet again someday in the future. I look forward to that very much.

Beth was such a delightful person, she had such a pure heart and was always looking for opportunities to talk about Jesus. Something I very well admired and her faithful pursuit for the kingdom of God. I met Beth back in high school as 3 of us friends stumbled upon a lady who asked us if we wanted to swim in her pool. We also assisted with some chores but overall she loved the company and to give us frozen treats and swim couple things you couldn’t resist. With that she was able to invite us to church out at Hopewell and from there it only started. I thank God for using her in a big way in my life, to help lead me to the Lord. I have had an amazing journey with God over the past 15 years and it all started with her generosity and invite of what seemed like such a simple act of kindness impacted my life unlike any other. I was also baptized in the pool where it all started and only seemed fitting. She was like a second grandma to me and I will be forever grateful for how she welcomed me in with open arms. She I’m sure has left a lasting impact on many but she is a VERY big part in my testimony and the faith I walk in today. We are all sad that the world lost a very special person and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her knows it too. I know right now she is dancing in the Heavens above having a blast and getting to spend all of eternity there. Until we meet again and that I cannot wait for, thanks for being you and being a strong courageous women of God. Love you Grandma Beth!

When I think of Grandma Beth every amazing emotion comes to mind. From the fear of God when she found the boys in the girl's dorm at Camp Cumberland!, to the inspiration she was for me as a teacher, to the many laughs she gave me, but the thing I will remember most is how she always made me feel welcomed and loved. Her giant smile and big hug everytime we met will always be in my memory. LOL I can't say the books of the New Testament without singing them to the tune of The Battle Hymn of the Republic thanks to her! Grandma Beth, I can't wait to see you again to get that great big smile and that warm hug! To her wonderful family that I think of as my own, you are in my prayers and I love you all.

Mrs. Rader was joy walking around on two feet. What I do now (teaching fifth graders at my church and writing curriculum for that age) is a direct result of her influence. I can still say all my helping verbs--is, are, was, were, has, have, had, be, been--while remembering a day she stood on one of our desks and directed the recitation like an orchestra conductor. To the family: I'll be praying for you as you are missing her.

It seems that Beth has always been in our lives. Bob's dad, Kyle, was on the school board that hired her to be a country teacher. Bob had her in country school and then when we married and had Janell, Beth was a teacher for Janell. On Halloween I would drive Janell to her house to trick or treat. I sat in the car and waited......usually quite a long time. When Janell would get in the car, I asked, "What took so long?" She said, "Oh, we had to play the piano together!" I wasn't surprised because Bob said when she was teaching in the country, Beth wouldn't just send the kids out to play but she would go out and play ball with them. What a loving committed teacher! Bob took a ball to her in the past few years and had her sign it. It is in out china cabinet with other treasures.
