Obituary of Opal Wiseman

Opal Evon Wiseman, died peacefully surrounded by her family on February 1, 2012 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, MO. Evon was born April 16, 1912 to Jay and Nerva McClure Hickman. She lived most of her life in Lamar and attended her entire school years there. She married Clyde T. Wiseman on July 3, 1932. They had one son, J. C. Wiseman of Nevada, MO.
Evon worked in ready-to-wear department stores until she was 79 years old. She volunteered as a pink lady at Barton County Memorial Hospital and in the X-Ray department, delivering mail to patients and running errands. Evon was always ready to help anyone in need. She served as president of her Sunday school class as well as many clubs for years. Evon was a 65 year member of the Calla Rebekah Lodge #160. She held several positions, including Mother of the Lodge, Jewel Decoration of Chivalry, Past Noble Grand, she was also voted as Woman of the Year and served as a judge at the Lamar Fair for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Lamar for 88 years.
Preceding her in death are her husband, parents and a sister. Survivors include her son J. C. Wiseman and wife, Barbara, Nevada, MO; two grandchildren, Keela Vaughn, Raymore, MO and Steven Wiseman, Overland Park, KS; three great-grandchildren, Justin Vaughn and wife, Belton, MO, Aaron Vaughn, Raymore, MO, Ashley Kramar and husband, Overland Park, KS.; Six great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Campbell, Joplin, MO and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
