Dorothy “Dottie” Lee Young was born on August 9, 1941 in Glendale, CA to Don and Viola Downey. Dottie departed this life on April 6, 2020 at Truman Healthcare. Dottie married Floyd Lee Young on September 19, 1959. He preceded her in death. To this union two children were born; James (Jim) Young and wife Hazel of Lamar, MO and Terri Lynn (Young) Jones and husband Mike of Lamar, MO. Dottie had four grandchildren; Melissa (Jose) Colòn, Mesquite, TX; James (Tiffany) Young, Lamar, MO; Randy (Matt) Schlichting, Lamar, MO; and Dusty Schlichting Lamar, MO and seven great grandchildren.
Dottie worked for several years at Truman Healthcare as a housekeeper, retiring in 2000. Dottie’s family was her pride and joy. She especially loved animals, more specifically her favorite companion, Lola.
There will be a graveside service at St Mary's Cemetery, Lamar, MO, on Wednesday April 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the humane society.
