Obituary of Lonny Gail Bass
Please share a memory of Lonny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lonny G. Bass of Lockwood, MO, passed away on Friday April 24, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Lonny was born in Jerico Springs, MO on April 16, 1949 to Ora and Thelma (Moore) Bass. Lonny attended high school in Lockwood, MO.
He worked many different jobs over the years. He worked as a butcher, drove a lime truck and he had a hay business. He worked at O’Sullivan’s and later for Thorco, where he worked as the lead welder in arc welding and retired after 35 years. Lonny was an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent his time in the outdoors whether for work or recreation. He came in to either warm up or to cool off but was content to spend his time outside or in his workshop. He was very creative and resourceful. He could figure out how to fix anything or create something useful when needed and was known to never throw anything away just in case he needed it for some purpose later. His dog Shadow, his faithful and constant companion, died just a week before Lonny did.
He is survived by his wife Ann (Jirik) Bass of Lockwood, MO; sons Shane Bass of Liberal, MO and Jeremy (Staci Ulmer) Bass of Lamar, MO; daughter Theresa (Justin) Kay of Lebanon, MO; two brothers Alfred (Retta) Bass of Wichita, KS and Dean Bass of Lamar, MO; and two sisters Wilma Volkman of Harrisonville, MO and Nancy (Mike) Boman of Lamar, MO. He is also survived by one granddaughter; one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. Lonny is also survived by other family members who are united by love and caring rather than legal ties.
Lonny is preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson Zayden Brollier.
