Obituary of Joan Garrett

Joan (Griffith) Garrett was born in September 1940 to J.D. and Audrey Griffith. She was raised in Carthage, MO and graduated from Carthage High School.
In 1959 she married Stanley Garrett. Together they raised three children: Mike, Randy and Tresa. They were members of the Old Salem Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where Joan played the piano every Sunday morning. Music was a very big part of Joan's life. She gave piano lessons, accompanied many school solos and ensembles, as well as, played for countless weddings over the years. Joan began working at The First Baptist Church Learning Center in the early 80's. She lovingly cared for hundreds of children like they were her own. After more than 23 years of faithful service, she retired from the Learning Center.
She is survived by her husband Stan and her three
children; Mike Garrett (Leigh Anne) of Oronogo, MO; Randy Garrett (Debra) of Lamar, MO; and Tresa (Mark) Manual of Jasper, MO. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Josh Garrett (Andi), Elaina Bottles, Alex Gibson (Pierce), Evan Garrett and Caitlyn Garrett, five great-grandchildren, and her brother, Larry Griffith.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, a baby brother and her sister, Beverly Capps.
Family and friends are encouraged to visit Konantz Warden Funeral Home on Tuesday October 20, 2020 between 9 am and 7pm. The family will receive visitors from 5 pm to 7 pm. A funeral will be held at Konantz Warden Funeral Home at 10 am on Wednesday October 21, 2020 followed by interment at Paradise Cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Joan Garrett Music Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
Masks and hand sanitizer will be available. You are encouraged to visit at your comfort level. You are welcome to come inside but we will also place a memorial book outside, under the covered porch on the north side of the building, on Monday and Tuesday from 9 am to 5 pm for those who would like to pay their respect with less contact.
