Obituary of Laurence William VonStroh

Laurence William VonStroh, 94, of Lockwood, Missouri, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. On November 11, 1925, he was born to Otto and Ida (Schilling) VonStroh in Lockwood, MO. He was baptized on November 29, 1925 and confirmed April 2, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. His confirmation verse was 2 Corinthians 5:15: “and He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised.”
Laurence graduated from Lockwood High School and attended Missouri University for one year prior to being drafted into the Army, where he served from November 6, 1945 to November 26, 1946. He also attended Valparaiso University for a semester before returning to Lockwood and joining his parents on the family farm and John Deere Implement business.
Laurence married Joan Viets on September 3, 1949. They were blessed with sixty-five years of marriage and three daughters: Jane Peters, Carol Bishop, and Paula Lasater.
Laurence was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lockwood, where he sang in the choir and held various positions over the years. He was active in the Lockwood American Legion and ran the John Deere Implement business in Lockwood.
Laurence was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joan. He is survived by his daughters: Jane and Kenneth Peters of Jefferson City, Carol and Steve Bishop of Concordia, and Paula and Randy Lasater of Lockwood; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer Moore of Edmond, OK, Steven Bishop of Guthrie, OK, Jennifer Kunkel, Meredith Marsh, and Blair Sayre all of Concordia, Clay Lasater and Joseph Lasater of Lockwood, and Lauren Plank of Olathe, KS; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Laurence VonStroh's memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lockwood on Sunday November 8, 2020 at 1 pm with interment at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery following the service. No gatherings before or after service and cemetery due to Covid-19
