Obituary of Dixie Lee Hampton

Please share a memory of Dixie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dixie Lee (Nading) Hampton, 76, of Liberal, Missouri passed peacefully surrounded by family on January 18, 2021. Dixie was born February 11, 1944 in Chetopa, Kansas to Lloyd Nading and Nadine Harbinson. Dixie grew up in Chetopa, where she attended school, before moving to Wichita, Kansas. She attended Modern School of Cosmetology, graduating in 1969. Dixie went on to have a successful career as a cosmetologist for 46 years. She opened her salon, Petite Hair Fashions, with Jerri Lynn Workman in 1972. She spent 43 years running her salon, through which she not only styled hair but built lasting friendships. On August 14, 1970 Dixie married Ronald Hampton. They went on to proudly spend 50 years together, building a beautiful family, ranch, and life. Ron and Dixie were truly devoted to each other throughout their marriage, so much so that their family believes this is the reason the Lord took them home so close together. Dixie is remembered by her family as fiery, protective, and honest. She faced a lot of struggles throughout her life, and always fought through the obstacles with faith. Dixie would do anything for her friends and family. She loved her children and her grandchildren. Her children remember her as someone who would give them the tough love they needed, always looking out for their best interests. Anyone who knew Dixie, knew that her pride and joy were her grandchildren and “greats”, as she liked to call them. She took any chance she could get to spend time with them. Her grandchildren will miss getting calls “asking” them to come over every Saturday, kitchen table conversations, games of Skip-Bo, never ending coffee and most of all her famous macaroni and cheese, and pancake breakfasts. Dixie will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Dixie is survived by her children, Stephanie Williams, Christina (Brent) Dolley, Becky (Brian) Engels, Stacey (Doug) Prier, Mike (Amy) Hampton and Ron (Michelle) Hampton; brothers, Lloyd (Nancy) Nading, Clifford (Bekah) Nading, Chester (Cindy) Nading, Jerry (Treva) Nading, Kelly (Nancy) Nading; and sister, Billie Alford . She is also survived by grandchildren Case, Carlie, Scott, Cash, Swayzie, Chelsie, Vance, Finley, Logan, Trax, Cole, Brady, Wyatt, Sabrina, Matt, Jerica, Amber, Sara, Samantha, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Erica, Haley, Amanda, Cody, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dixie is preceded in death by husband, Ronald Hampton, parents Lloyd Nading and Nadine Harbinson, and sister Debbie Littlejohn. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Iantha Community Center. The family will receive visitors at Konantz Warden Funeral Home on Monday January 25, 2021 from 5 PM to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday January 26, 2021 at 10 AM.
