Obituary of Kay Gastel
Please share a memory of Kay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donna Kay Gastel passed away on June 2, 2021. She was born on February 19, 1952, to Johnnie R. and Charlene (Lester) Casey, at their home in Grays Point, Missouri. Kay graduated from Miller High School.
She met the love of her life at Judy’s Café in Jasper, MO. Kay saw Skeeter Gastel and knew immediately that she needed to know him better. They married in Miami, OK and would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary on August 28th. They moved to the Boston, MO area for a couple of years before buying their home in Golden City, MO. Kay and Skeeter spent the rest of their lives loving and raising their family.
Kay was a dedicated mom who put her family first. She would happily go without to provide for her children. Kay worked in a few places before settling in as the secretary and receptionist at Golden Business Forms. She worked there for many years, until she retired. Her boys will tell you that the only reason she worked, was to give them the things she wanted them to have. She always had her boys back and was a protective mama bear who defended them even when they did not deserve it. She was their biggest fan and cheerleader who supported them in their lives. She was a loving mom who never missed a ball game. Kay carried those qualities over to her life with her grandchildren. She loved watching the grandchildren play games and being a part of their lives. Her family brought her pleasure and joy. Kay loved all her siblings but was especially close to her twin sister, Faye. The two were a hilarious duo who loved clowning around together. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her loving and generous heart, her soft spot for the elderly and people in need, and for her amazing cooking, especially her cheeseburgers.
She is survived by her sons, Rick (Tammie) Gastel of Lockwood, MO, Brad (Amber) Gastel of Dewey, OK, and Brian Gastel of Carthage, MO; and grandchildren, Mason, Maddox, Reed, Layne, Kruz, Kase, Addison, Madelyn, Gracie and Kenidi; sisters Jane (Paul) Obert, Joyce (Bruce) Williams; and brothers, Johnnie Ross Casey Jr, Charles (Elaine) Casey, and John Wayne (Crystal) Casey. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Doris (Ray) Little of Lamar, MO, Janet (Steve) Diggs of Lamar, MO, Carolyn Gastel of Lamar, MO, Ellen Gastel of WA, and Judy Gastel of Lamar, MO; brothers-in-law, Kenny (Arvilla) Gastel of Rock Island, IL, and James (Jeannie) Gastel of Jasper, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Faye Fox.
