Mary Ruth is one of the most resourceful kind-hearted person anyone could ever know. Was conscientious of respecting loved ones at waters cemetery on Memorial day we went there and placed flowers on everyone of family relatives graves. She was a woman with respect, leading and not knowing she was leading. Her commitment to Christ was so profound. Dedication, love, understanding all virtues not to mention patience, temperance and truth. Gene and Mary Ruth worked hard and both down-to-earth with welcoming warm arms. Treating all persons with dignity and respect. You worked hard. You can now rest in your heavenly home together. But on earth you will be missed. I like the gauchos and coolat pants you always wore, but most of all I liked how you combed my hair. Made me feel loved.

I remember visiting over the summer. She was always so welcoming and generous. I remember the farm cats and the tiny kitten that got stuck in between some boards that we rescued. Of course, I remember the gigantic playroom, a child’s dream.
But most of all, I remember the kindness she showed to my older siblings when they needed it the most. It’s a timeless reminder that simply doing something nice for someone is the most fulfilling thing a person can do.
She will be missed.

Gilles and I are so thankful for the great memories of recent visits with the family and yes she was a childhood staple for me as well. Her homemade donuts were awesome. Sunday church services were always special from dressing up, to singling with our cousins, Sunday school activities, large lunches afterwards . She really pushed to get it all done and I remember her her big smile when she could finally rest her feet. Her rest is well deserved. A beautiful soul. Happy to think of her and Uncle Gene together again.

I have very fond childhood memories of our Aunt Mary Ruth. What a lady! I remember her catching chickens ripping off their heads and plucking them and made the best fried chicken meal I ever had. I have no idea how she ever caught them because I tried chasing her chickens too, I could never catch one. I remember her putting on a feast in her old dining room, feeding all the farmworkers and the Crockett guys and Uncle Gene. All the effort she put into the middle meal. Fresh tomatoes, potato salad, sweet tea. I know it must’ve been a burden on her to have the Glen Costley girls too along with her big family of five girls. She always made us feel welcome, and I will always love her for that. Does anybody remember when the big snake was resting underneath her front door and she called uncle Charlie to come and kill it? Aunt Mary Ruth and uncle Gene took us in every summer when we were kids. It was a lot of fun being with my cousins too. We would stay up way late at night telling stories giggling and I remember that one night we were way too loud and uncle Gene walked up the stairs and was going to spank everyone of us if we didn’t shut up I was scared he was so tall but he didn’t spank us. Rest in peace sweet Mary Ruth I’ll love you forever for your kindness and you showed me how to be a strong woman. Now you are at peace in your heavenly body with your beloved Eugene.
