Obituary of Barbara Powell

On January 20, 2012, at the age of 69, Barbara passed from this earth at her home in Carthage, Missouri. Barbara was born July 23, 1941 in Linn Grove, Iowa, to Rollo and Molly Polly Peoria (Vaughn) Yount. Barbara lived in Iowa and Carthage and Lamar, MO. She was an assembly line worker, employed by O'Sullivan Industries until her retirement. Barbara was a very busy woman. While raising her family and working a full time job, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, and sewing her children's clothes. She also loved animals, especially her Chihuahua, Cindy Lou. She was a member of the Red Hats. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and husband William Powell. She is survived by sons, Stephen Smith and wife, Kelli, Raymore, MO; William Smith and wife, Kathy, Harrisonville, MO; Hank Smith and wife, Debra, Liberal, MO; and a daughter, Karen Bly, Lamar, MO; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers Jerry Vaughn and wife, Shirley, Lamar, MO; Doug Yount and wife, Connie, Mindenmines, MO; Wayne Yount and wife, Gale, Clairmore, OK; Thomas Jones Jr. and wife, Chris, Golden City, MO; sisters, Portia Pierce and husband, Duane, Independence, MO; Marlene Timmons, Carthage, MO; and Darlene Bartlett, Mexico. She will be missed by all her family and friends.
