Obituary of Luther Elton Lamb

Luther Lamb passed away on October 19, 2021. He was born on July 25, 1933, in Newport, MO to Luther and Una (Beavers) Lamb. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Luther married Shirley Cornell on April 18, 1952. They made their home and raised two sons in Lamar, MO where they owned and operated the Montgomery Wards Store for several years. He also worked in several positions in Barton County, serving as an assistant Coroner and as a Deputy Sheriff for over 25 years. Luther was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, as well as a Missouri Woodsman who would teach and quiz his grandchildren on the local trees. He loved to be at his farm and even built a cabin there out of salvaged materials.
He is survived by his son Russel (Cammy) Lamb of Newport, MO; siblings, Daryl (Carolyn) Lamb, Sharon Cartwright, and Beverly (Vernon) Smith; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
Luther is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; son, Leon Lamb; great-granddaughter, Hannah Lamb; and siblings Lyle Lamb and Janelle McKinley.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Newport Cemetery in care of Konantz Warden Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lamar, MO on Sunday October 24, 2021, at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Newport Cemetery.
Luther will be lying in state at Konantz Warden Funeral Home on Saturday October 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
