Obituary of Shirley Mae Cheek

Shirley Mae Cheek passed away on Monday November 22, 2021 at her home. She was born on January 20, 1943 in Jerico Springs, MO to Lawrence and Fernita (Evans) Berry. She went to Sylvania School and then Lockwood High School. She started work at the Sunset Cafe and worked there until she met and married Bill Cheek and moved with him to California where he was stationed. After military service ended they returned to Lockwood, MO and raised their family. She worked several places including Evans Supermarket, Pump-n-Pay, and O’Sullivan Industries. Shirley was a wonderful cook. She cooked so many amazing meals and was especially known for her Blueberry Sky and her Raisin pies. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother whose entire life revolved around her family.
Shirley is survived by daughters, Diana (Ray) Underwood of Locust Grove, AR and Denise Kimmons and fiance Anthony Holloway of Lamar, MO; grandchildren, Anthony Cheek, Stefanie Underwood, Dallas Underwood, William Ray Underwood, Wesley Cheek, Nick Kimmons, Skyler Kimmons, Coleen Cheek, Rebecca Cheek, and Kayla Cheek; and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Roberta (Wayne) Franklin, Linda Martin, Beverly Chandler, Norma Mitchell, Sue Gerleman, and Becky Berry; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Marshall Cheek Sr.; son William Marshall "Billy" Cheek Jr.; and siblings, Louise Muncy, Kenneth Berry and Denzil Berry.
The family would appreciate donations in lieu of flowers being made to assist with the funeral expenses.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday November 27, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. A procession will go to Bethlehem Cemetery where a grave side service will be held around 12:30 PM.
