Your memory lives on through weekly Dolly Parton music listening and reading (Harper loves her Dolly Parton book and loves dancing to her music).

Adding one extra addition here, because I don't know how I forgot to include it in my first tribute to Grandma. Music often plays a vital role in our core memories and surrounds our life experiences. I cannot think of Dolly Parton or hear one of her songs without thinking of Grandma or one of our many road trips together. I wish I could find that old Dolly Parton cassette tape that must have racked up thousands of plays over the years. It certainly soundtracked many of my favorite earliest memories with Grandma, and her memory will live on through the many vinyl Dolly Parton records and playlists I listen to frequently to this day - and always. Especially, the song AppleJack. Love you Grandma. I'll keep Dolly on rotation for you.

Grandma was a remarkable woman. I have such vivid and wonderful childhood memories visiting her in Lamar, feeding popsicles to the duck statues on her back porch, sneaking candy from her candy jar, indulging in her famous pumpkin pie and peanut clusters - and of course eagerly (yet grammatically incorrectly) telling her it’s time for the “potty” (party), which she’d never let me live down, even in my adult years.
As I grew older, every time we had a chance to visit, she would never forget to tell me how proud she was of me. But honestly, I’ve always been proud of her. When I interviewed her about living through the Great Depression for my history class in high school, I learned the struggles and challenges of her early life, growing up without a lot of financial means and doing what she could to chip in and support her family and siblings during tough times, making clothes out of feed sacks because fabric was too expensive. She shared this period of her life matter-of-factly, without sadness, regret or bitterness. It showed me a lot about her character - her perseverance, strength and determination - and I respected that so much.
After grandpa passed away, though her grief must have been unimaginable, again her strength and determination shined through, as she was determined to stay at home where they had lived together, even though it was several hours away from any family.
After college, I moved to New York, so visits with grandma were less frequent. Yet she would never forget to write for my birthday (though she had how many grandchildren?!) which always made me feel special, loved and happy to have my grandma rooting for me from afar.
Her strength and perseverance never left her for the rest of her long life. The warm memories of grandma will live in my heart and mind forever, and her example of strength and grace has surely made an impact on all of us.
I will miss her dearly, but I take comfort in the fact that she is at peace and reunited with Grandpa and loved ones who have gone before her. May she rest in eternal peace. I'm proud of you too Grandma. Love, Jamie

There are many memories that come to mind when thinking about my Grandmother, but my two favorite involve horses and Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
One summer we took a family vacation to Heartland Ranch. I don't remember much from that trip, only that we took a trail ride and Grandma went along with us. Grandma's horse got excited and took off running ahead of the group. To this day, I can still hear Grandma screaming at that horse to slow down.

My love for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers is due entirely to road trips with Grandma and Grandpa Mac. Grandma had a tape cassette of Dolly Parton and she and Grandpa would indulge me and let me listen to one song in particular over and over again - Islands in the Stream. Play, then hit rewind, over and over again. The most memorable of these trips was a short road trip to Chicken Annie's (a family tradition every time we visited)

and I'm quite sure my Dad was quietly trying to find a way to "lose" that cassette the entire drive. To this day, every time I hear that song I think of Grandma. And yes, I do still listen to it over and over again.

To say I will miss Grandma is an understatement. But mostly, I will miss our regular phone calls and hearing her say these final words each time our call ended.....I love you, hon. I love you too, Grandma. Give Grandpa a big hug from all of us.

Rosalie and I worked at O'Sullivan Industries for about 2 1/2 years. We would occasionally get each other coffee during our breaks. We used to sit together during lunch and we would talk about work, weather and general life issues. During that time Rosalie(my Mother-in-law) and I became friends. I will really miss her. One time Julie and I had spent the night at grandma and grandad's house. This was early morning, Julie and I were running around outside before breakfast and grandad was out with the cows. Well I think Julie saw the snake it was a copperhead. So she ran to the house to get grandma while I watched the snake. Grama came out not running or even seemed to be really be worried about it. I showed her where the snake was and she said Brian, you get back away from that snake. So I did. She picked up a rock and dropped it on the snake she did this twice. I will never forget the silhouetted figure of her standing over that dead snake and thinking that my grandmother was fearless.
