Obituary of Alfred Lee Banwart

Alfred Banwart, 80, of Lamar, MO passed away on Wednesday May 3, 2023. He was born on March 24, 1943, in Pittsburg, KS to Oscar and Caroline (Marti) Banwart. He attended rural Oakton School for three and a half years and then attended Lamar Schools, graduating in 1961. He had a dairy, farmed, and worked at O’Sullivan’s for 26 years. Alfred married Charlotte Ann Meyer in Fairbury, IL on February 14, 1973 and to this union three children were born. Charlotte passed away on May 7, 1987. He married Carolyn Jean Gerber on January 31, 1988, in West Bend, IA. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; children Jonathan (Beth) Banwart of Lamar, MO, Ulista Banwart of Sabetha, KS, and Venetta Banwart of Lamar, MO; grandsons Daniel, Jacob, Kevin, and Jeffrey Banwart of Lamar, MO; and his sister Eileen (Don) Braker of Sabetha, KS. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Roberta Meyer, Rachel Meyer, Joe and Marcella Steiner, Paul and Delores Metzger, Roger and Ilene Hartter, Larry and Shirley Ifft, Cheryl Moore, Manuel and Mary Gerber, David and Diane Gerber and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte; parents; brother-in-law Ralph Meyer and wife Melanie; and brother-in-law Dale Moore. If you would like to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers, the family suggests the Sabetha Apostolic Christian Church Nursing Home or the Apostolic Christian Church of Barton County. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday May 5, 2023, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Visitors will also be received on Saturday May 6, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a 10:00 AM funeral service following at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lamar, MO.
