Lynn Youngs Finley posted a condolence

Mary was in my graduating class of '66. After graduation, she went to work at my dad Herb Youngs' MFA insurance office. Since the office was in front of our apartment, I was around Mary quite a bit. She never had an unkind word to say..... except when she made a typing mistake. In those days we used carbon paper for a copy. Correcting it was messy and aggravating. Mary always listened intently when others spoke. She was very gracious and accommodating. She will be missed by many. I was gone from Lamar from late '66 to 2011. When I went into the Shelter office, I was pleasantly surprised to see her and catch up on all those years. Blessings to family and close friends.

Mary was a kind and loving person. She was one of the women who helped raise me, so many happy memories of the times I had with her as little girl. Midnight snacks of cheese puffs and snickers, trips to the movies (which was a huge treat in those days), working in the garden with her. When her parents were still alive they would have a huge 4th of July family gathering. Her dad would fill a small stock tank with ice and all kinda of pop. We would throw firecrackers by her moms chicken coupe, and get scolded, but not by Mary. She always had a smile for us kids. I hope she knew how much she was loved. And I hope she knew how much happiness she brought to all who knew her.

Oh Aunt Mary, you are already so missed. Loved seeing you and getting the sweetest hugs from you when we would get to come down and visit. Special memory was June 11th, 2021 we were heading to Pensacola Beach for Heather Lynne's 23rd birthday, and we ran into you at Cracker Barrel in Springfield, got to get a picture with you and some gab time, so seeing you made the start of our vacation extra special! We will always be so thankful for knowing you! Love you, David, Jodi (Hagins), and Heather Lynne Delana.
