Obituary of James Dewey Thomas

James Dewey Thomas, 79, passed away on Saturday October 14, 2023. He was born on November 23, 1943, in Stilwell, OK, to Willie “Doe” and Iona (Luck) Thomas. James grew up in Clifty, AR where he met and married Ona Hadley. From this union was born Arlene, Jeanette, and Dewey. The family moved to Eureka Springs, AR where James worked at General Business Forms. In 1965, they moved to Golden City, MO where he worked as a pressman for Golden Business Forms for 45 years. During those years James had many extra jobs and interests including carpet layer, brick and stone mason, and cutting and selling wood. In 1995, he married Nancy Levian and they continued to live in the Golden City area.
He was a volunteer for the rural fire department and coached Little League Baseball. On the fun side, James loved to fish Muddy Creek and have fish fries. He was a good shuffleboard and tennis player. He was an outdoorsman. Whether hunting, fishing, tending to his garden or cutting wood, you could most often find him outdoors. He enjoyed watching football and listening to music. He also loved and raised numerous dogs over the years including his trusty dog Max. James didn’t typically have much to say, but when he did, it was likely to make you smile.
He is survived by his daughter Jeanette (Doug) Salzman of Golden City, MO; son Dewey (Lara) Thomas of Springdale, AR; and grandchildren Luke and Caleb Baldwin of Fayetteville, AR, Madison (Brett) McDonald of Manhattan, KS, Michael Salzman of Kansas City, MO, Rhonda (Ben) Lynch of Fayetteville, AR and Taylor (Dylon) Weaver of Springdale, AR. He is also survived by great grandchildren Alexandra and Beckham Lynch of Fayetteville, AR; half-brother Brett Vaughn of Rogers, AR; sister-in-law Trisha Thomas of Rogers, AR and son-in-law, Kevin Baldwin of Fayetteville, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Nancy; daughter Arlene Baldwin; brother Jerry Thomas; and sisters Bonita Thomas, and Willie Mae Kirkland.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. There will be a visitation before the service starting at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow the service at the IOOF Cemetery in Golden City, MO.
