Obituary of Janice Mae Sweet

Janice Mae Sweet, 78, of Iantha, MO passed away on Saturday January 6, 2024. She was born in Jasper, MO to Walter and Iris (Howard) Sweet and graduated from Jasper High School in 1963. She was married to John Doubledee from 1978 to 1986. She worked in a few places in her life including Horton’s Dime store in Lamar, MO and at the MFA in Iantha, MO but her true career was as Mom. She enjoyed baking, especially cookies and bread and grew beautiful roses. Janice always put her family first. She loved God and raised her children to know the Lord, reading them Bible stories and singing hymns to put them to bed at night. She was a wonderful loving mother. She is survived by her children Holly (Andrew) Chism of Joplin, MO, Willa Doubledee of Iantha, MO, Timothy (Sandy) Doubledee of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Lisa (Chris) Kent of Joplin, MO; and grandchildren Daniel and Kathryn. She is also survived by her siblings Oneta Sweet of Iantha, MO, Darlene (Clark) Livingston of Jasper, MO, and Terrie Sweet of Iantha, MO; sister-in-law Norma Eaves of Iantha, MO; nephews Steven (Priscilla) Sweet of Lamar, MO, Charles (Autumn) Sweet of Neosho, MO and Kent Sweet of Iantha, MO as well as many cousins that she loved very much. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Aaron Sweet, and daughter Tara Wegner. A memorial service will be held on Monday January 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Iantha Baptist Church.
