Helen was an awesome secretary at Lamar High School. All teachers know that a great secretary keeps the whole building running smoothly. I was the high school art instructor at LHS for six years before moving to teach in Henderson NV. I had a friendship with Helen. She was a lovely, sunny, sweet person that always had a smile on her face. I really thought the world of her. Then, later she married Orville Bailey, who was a friend of our family we were reconnected again. I will miss Helen but I know that someday I will see her again in heaven. I know she is in heaven because she was a devoted Christian. God bless you Helen, I know that you are smiling!

I thought hard and prayed more about how to honor my dear, dear friend. It is not easy to try to express the impact Helen has had on my life. To say that I loved her is not adequate. To say that she was a woman of faith and grace that I aspire to emulate is not enough. To say that I will miss her to the depth of my soul, her smile, her laughter, her thankful heart, and most of all her prayers for me, so misses the mark. Helen Bailey was, and is because she is with Jesus, the sweetest soul it has been my privilege to know. Her thankful heart was a lesson in trusting Jesus through every heartache. Her laughter and mischievous grin spoke of the joy of living. And how can I express the comfort knowing that this prayer warrior prayed daily for me brought. Oh Helen, I miss you. “ What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see.” I know that you have rejoiced in that glorious day.
