Obituary of Kim Ellen Spurling

Kim Ellen Spurling, 65, of Liberal, MO passed away on Wednesday June 19, 2024. She was born in Girard, KS to George and Wilma (Russell) Trout. She grew up in Girard, KS graduating from Girard High School in 1977. She married Darrell Spurling on September 21, 1979, and the couple would have celebrated 45 years of marriage this year. They lived and raised their family in Girard, KS until 1996 when they moved to Liberal, MO. Kim worked at several places over the years including National Mills in Pittsburg, KS, the hospital in Girard, KS and at Casey’s in Liberal, MO. She enjoyed reading and cooking and was well known for her taco salads and home-made ice cream. She was a talented sewer and enjoyed making clothes and blankets for her friends and family. Kim’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. She is survived by her children Derrick (Kimberly Wass) Spurling of Mindenmines, MO and Daniel Spurling of Liberal, MO; grandchildren Jaxyn, Kasen, Lakyn, and Claira Spurling; siblings Sue (Ralph) Ghumm of Jasper, MO, Tina (Frank) Cheney of Carl Junction, MO, Becky (Willie) Wheeler of Radley, KS, and Dennis (Brenda) Trout of MIndenmines, MO. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother Steven Trout; nephews Phillip Trout and Jody Ghumm; and niece Ashley Wheeler. If you would like to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made for final expenses in care of Konantz Warden Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday June 24, 2024, and a funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Dinner will follow graveside interment at the Liberal Park Building.
