Dora “Jean” Buzzard, 85, of Lamar, MO passed away on Tuesday July 16, 2024. She was born in Barton County to Grace (Purvis) and Walter Ison. Jean grew up in Barton County and graduated from Liberal High School in 1957, where she was an active member of the band. At 15, she met the love of her life, Harvey Buzzard. Jean’s best friend was dating Harvey’s brother, brought Jean along and talked her into a double date. They married October 6, 1957. Over the years, she worked in several places. She worked in the print shop with her husband, baby sat, and worked many years, until retirement, at O’Sullivan Industries.
She was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in her yard. She strived for and was awarded Yard of Month several times. She enjoyed traveling, visiting Hawaii and the US from coast to coast finding local treasures like the Bridges of Madison County and the tulip fields in Pella, IA. Jean loved her family and the time that she got to spend with them, and she loved “that stupid cat”.
She is survived by her sons, Craig (Kendra) Buzzard and Derek (Charity) Buzzard; grandchildren, Cody (Regina) Buzzard, Kyle (Lyndsey) Buzzard, Clayton (Marissa) Buzzard, Sam (Grace) Buzzard, Kaden Buzzard, Brooke Buzzard, Zander Buzzard; and great-grandchildren, Gentry, Kennedy, Lara, Harvey, and Della.
