Obituary of Max Allen Long
Please share a memory of Max to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Max Allen Long, 47, of Liberal, MO passed away on Wednesday August 7, 2024. He was born in Pittsburg, KS to George and Terry (Wheeler) Long and grew up in Liberal, MO where he graduated from Liberal High School in 1995. Max was a hard worker and self-starter. He worked in concrete construction his entire career and was the owner of Max Long’s Concrete Construction.
Max enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, squirrels and a variety of other animals. He also liked to fish. He enjoyed having movie nights with his family that included a big glass of sweet tea and a bowl of popcorn with a LOT of butter. He was a fan of football, especially the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys, and of golf. He was a fun-loving man with a heart of gold who was always cracking jokes. He would do anything to make you smile even if it was insanely annoying. He was also a bit ornery and if he could rile your feathers, he would, creating a good nature rivalry as he did it.
Each day, before going to work, Max would pray for his family. He would touch their cars and the doorframes of their rooms as he did. He was the best father, son, brother, and uncle and will be missed.
Max is survived by his mother Terry Long of liberal, MO, and children Austin Long of Liberal, MO, Alexa (Erik) Furmanek of Omaha, NE, Jacob Long of Liberal, MO, and Elizabeth Long of Liberal, MO. He is also survived by his siblings Jimmy Long of Liberal, MO and Misty Madison of Liberal, MO, and by his niece and nephew, who he loved as his own children, Colby and Unity Carpino of Liberal, MO. He is preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate assistance with final expenses.
