Louisiana Mastin, 95, Idaho Falls, ID, passed away April 28, 2012. Ms. Mastin was, born September 24, 1916, in Liberal, MO, to Ray and Jane Bainter. Louisiana graduated from Liberal High School and attended college at Southwest Missouri State. She taught in country schools around Liberal for many years before teaching English at Liberal High School.
Louisiana met Gordon Mastin at Liberal where they both taught, and were married, May 27, 1946. They bought a farm and moved to Bolivar, MO, and had 2 children, Sheila and Blake. She continued to teach after moving to Bolivar, residing there over 50 years before moving to Idaho in 2007.
Louisiana was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Bolivar, where she was the organist for 30 years. She played for many weddings and funerals and was also an accomplished pianist.
Preceding Ms. Mastin are her husband, Gordon, 2003; her parents; siblings, Orland Bainter, Wilma Meyers and Burr Bainter. She is survived by daughter, Sheila Kellogg, and husband Ted of Ashton, ID; son, Blake Mastin, TX; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer McDonnell Olson, Bozeman, MT; Megan Kellogg Reinke, Rigby, ID; Scott Masten, MO; 3 great-grandchildren, Sydney and Jacob Olson; Ben Reinke; sisters Betty Lee Spratt, Nevada, MO; Sophia Jane Main, Garberville, CA; many nieces and nephews.
